Many people say that they want to lose weight. Unfortunately, when it comes to sticking to their diets, by about day three they are putting an end to that diet and pulling in to that drive-through window. Sometimes we could all do with an extra dose of motivation, and fewer French fries!Dieters can motivate themselves in many ways. The first tip to successfully motivating yourself is asking yourself honestly, Why do I want to lose weight. Try to listen to your heart and wait for the true answer to come to you. Many of us have a quick answer such as, to get into that bathing suit or so I can climb stairs faster. Listen to your heart to see why else you should lose weight. Are you hearing anything standing in your way to losing weight? Is part of you saying that you should lose weight though another part of you telling you that you dont have to? This inner conflict can be the true challenge that you are facing, discovering it can help you understand how you can succeed at your dieting and weight loss efforts. Many of us are motivated when we think of setting goals. There is a saying that Wishes are goals without deadlines. Give your weight loss wishes some deadlines. Think of a reasonable time for you to lose the weight that you would like to lose. Most of us lose a pound or two each week at a healthy rate. At that rate, how long would it take for you to lose what you need to lose? Giving yourself that time line is an excellent way to motivate yourself. Knowing that you will be at your healthy weight by New Years Eve, ready to set an entirely different type of New Years Resolution is an excellent motivation tool!Another motivation that works for both adults and children is a reward system. Now who doesnt like a reward? Think about what type of reward you would like for losing weight? Many that lose weight decide to buy new clothes. New clothes could be a great reward. Another excellent weight loss reward could be an MP3 player full of music to listen to at the gym, or a session with a personal trainer. Setting rewards for every five or ten pounds you lose could be a great motivational tool.Involving your family and friends in your motivation for weight loss is also an excellent idea. Research has shown that when you lose weight or exercise with a friend, you are more likely to stick with it. Why not get slim and get in shape with a friend or a family member? The two of you can motivate and encourage each other along the way. Talk on the telephone or in person about what you find challenging about your diet. This is a great way to come up with ideas to make your diet easier. You can swap recipes and learn new exercise routines. Things are always more fun with someone else.Weight loss can be challenging, although it is ten times more challenging without motivation. Stoke your motivational fires up high and then expect nothing other than the best: youll soon reach your weight loss goal!
